Ashes champion arrives

You may have noticed that the Over the top again team appeared near the top of the table today. Although some of you might think the late entry of the winner of the Ashes competition is a bit unfair, he does have a good excuse!

Unfortunately, I forgot to email Stephen about the competition with everyone else (I'm still not sure why his email address slipped off my list), and so he didn't know the competition had started until today.

There is a precedent for this: 2 years ago, David Eves entered his team a week late, and after a massive public outcry was docked a massive 161 points. This time, I'm not planning on docking Stephen anything, partly because it was my fault he was late, but also partly to promote the bitter rivalvy and disharmony that is core to any 'for fun' fantasy competition :)

The competition starts

The 2003 Fantasy Cricket competition has started! Please check your team to see that everything is as you expected, and that the scores look OK. I suggest that you bookmark your team 'overview' page (here's the Zindabad XI overview page), as this should have all the most important information about your team. Don't forget it will be updated every 15 minutes throughout the day.

If you wanted to enter a team, then email me with your team and a good excuse for being late. I've allowed late teams in the past (although their managers have been fortunate to avoid the lynch-mob when they appeared at first place).

I hope you all enjoy the season.

About the competition

The English 2003 Cricket season has started, and as usual, so is the 2003 Fantasy Cricket competition.

As with other (inferior) Fantasy competitions, teams are made up of current cricketers, and the performance of each fantasy team is based on the actual performance of the players. Features of this competition are:

  • Live scores: Players and teams are updated every 15 minutes.
  • Online updates: Edit your team whenever you want.
  • Extensive statistics: Check out up-to-date point for other teams, different players, match-by-match breakdown and even previous seasons information.
  • Event Filtering: Filtering out of events, so information relevant to you and your team are displayed on your teampage.
  • Free: It doesn't cost you a penny!
  • Long Running: Online fantasy cricket competitions since 1995. Check out the results from The Ashes competition (last winter), the 2002 season, and the 2001 season.
  • International competition: The ONLY Taiwan-based online fantasy cricket competition.

The competition started on the 21st May. You can check some Background information, as well as reading the rules.
