The match started under grey clouds, but the end of Hurricane Bill (apparently) ensured that we saw plenty of showers and it was pretty unpleasent by the end. We welcomed back David Y and Rob C after several years and Rob D travelled down from Cambridge again. We batted pretty well on a bouncy pitch, with Steve and David Y leading the way. In normal circumstances we might have fancied defending 114, but despite picking up two wickets in the first over (one via a suicidal bit of running), we were severely lacking bowlers. We also had only 9.5 fielders, with Mark being unable to move faster than a walk and not able to bend (which didn't stop him saving 3 boundaries). What is more, we seemed unable to hold a catch (dropping 4), although a very wet/slippy ball could be justly blamed. Crawley Council could therefore cruise to the target, with stalwart Adrian Peckover scoring an undefeated 50.
