Lost by 1 wicket

Notes

A fine start to the season with blues skies and sunshine, despite it still being April. Our batting performance was pretty poor on a slow/low wicket, but Paul L provided some useful impetus at the end. Sadly Jeff managed to injure his Achilles tendon facing his second ball and will almost certainly miss the rest of the season. Falcons chase started with such ease that it looked innevitable we would lose by 10 wickets in around 12 overs. However after an expensive first over, David W became unplayable and with good support from new recruit Peter (who took two fine catches) the Falcons started to collapse. Amazingly we got to the final over with them needing 3 runs with three wickets left. They lost two wickets for one run in the first four balls, but Ivor managed to clear the in-field and scamper the necessary 2 on the penultimate ball, possibly aided by the fact that, in the fading light, several of our players hadn't noticed he had reached the crease!
