Notes

A very pleasent evening at the well appointed L and G grounds in Kingswood. We chose to field first (as is traditional) on a pitch that was pretty "sporting" with a fair number of balls keeping low and the odd one taking off. What is more there was some turn which delighted and surprised Andy in particular. L and G batted (and ran) well, but Jon (stirling efforts in the deep) and Jeff (direct hit run out) set a high standard of fielding. None the less L and G's total of 97 looked astronomic the moment our innings started and we slumped to 18-6 after 7 overs (their opener Kish took 4 for 5!). However with their openers bowled out, Terrence and Paul L started to rebuild. As the partnership prospered, apparent certain defeat swiftly transformed in to a slim chance and thence to likely victory. But with the victory hoving into view Paul was caught in the deep by a magnificent one handed effort and the tables could have turned again; thankfully Terrence was unflustered and with a few more classy blows, he led us home to a sixth victory of the season.
