The final match of the season was full of incident. Early in our innings Rob was bowled by a waist high full toss him - but was it above waist high? Tim and Paul rebuilt slowly getting the score past 40 in only the 12th over, but then we had a mid-innings collapse, loosing 4 wickets in 4 overs for 5 runs. Some frantic running by Paul G and Andy boosted the score to a poor 70 (Paul L also inspired a great 3 off the final ball from a shot that only went 20 yards). Fortunately, Crawley Council had just as much trouble scoring as we did. Terrence and Rob produced a great initial spell, with Rob nearly completing a triple wicket maiden (barring an initial wide) including a wicket with a waist high full toss (a great catch by Terrence). We picked up wickets frequently including a stumping of a batsmen who had swung so hard at one of David's deliveries that he threw his bat at square leg and so couldn't ground it. Paul G also completed a direct hit run out. In the end we reached the final delivery with the Council needing two to win with one wicket left. Anything could have happened but they ended up running just one off a dropped catch, leading to an honorable draw.
