A remarkable match for all sorts of reasons! We chose to bat first (a fairly rare occurence) and struggled against accurate bowling with few loose deliveries (not so rare). A total of 79 was largely based on Paul G's effort, which mainly involved playing in the "v" between keeper and gully. I don't think we really expected to be able to defend such a small total but we bowled and fielded as well as we have for a decade at least. In addition David's 5 wicket haul, Paul and Rahul both managed direct hits to get run outs. All the same after reducing them to 27-8 after 10 overs, it looked as though they might escape with a brave 9th wicket stand, but a third LBW decision (their umpiring was very fair) swung things decisively our way and the coup de grace was delivered by Rahul's throw.
